Ethnic Barbie®

Page 2

I had to split the page as it took a while to load. I can't have you wait forever and leave, can I?

OK, here are the ethnical features of Barbie except the black and Hispanic that are on page 1:
Asian, Far East, Indians (Native American and South American).

Well, at least they are listed.... Too many missing dolls to bother putting them up for the moment.

Asian

This raven haired doll is one of the first dolls in the International series: Oriental Barbie from 1981, and the first one to use this headmold.

Far East

Barbie from India in the Dolls of the World Collection have been released twice. The first one has the Steffie face and number 2 wears the features of the Teresa face.

In India there is a company, LEO, that makes beautiful Barbie dolls by license in real saris. They have a lighter skin tone than ordinary Mattel-made dolls and with brown or black hair. They are just adorable!

Native American / South American Indians

Barbie has come from all over the world and the first Barbie as an Indian was the Peruvian Barbie from 1986. She has the Steffie face and this year 1999, a second issue Peruvian Barbie is out with the oriental head mold and a little baby which makes her the first in the line of Dolls of the World to not be sold alone.

The first Native American Barbie came in 1993 and has the face of Diva. The second and third has Teresa's features and the two(!) number four Natives has Diva's face again (to be true one of them, a TRU Special Edition did not have a number and some refer to it as #3˝).

In the American Stories Collection the first issue Native American doll has the face of SuperStar Barbie and the second looks just like Teresa.
