Other toddlers

The first little baby that Barbie knew, was in the Barbie Baby Sits set in the 60's. This was a cute little yellow haired toddler with blue eyes. Some years later the baby was changed into a little guy (or gal) with glass eyes inserted and rooted hair. This little one came originally in the Sunshine Family, another Mattel production.

In a set called Barbie Loves-to Read she read a storybook for two bigger baby dolls. This doll originated in first the Rosebud baby and then The Heart Family baby twins. The Barbie Li'l Friends is also made with this head- and bodymold. They can be anywhere between 9 months to three years old, since the day Kelly came, they were supposed to be older than her! Imagine that with those baby legs!
The Barbie Li'l Friends had rooted hair until 1995 when Teacher Barbie came to school. She had two pupils in her class in sorted skin- and hair colors and one of them was a little boy with molded hair.

Dr Barbie nursed one-to-three tiny babies depending on which box you found her in. The standard issue had one toddler and in The Career Collection from Toys 'R Us there were three little babies in four (!) different skin tones. Figure that one out!
Just kidding, they were sorted and could be found with any three of these four babies.

Skipper have been baby sitting many little cuties through the years. Most of them have the same bodymold, from the Sunshine baby, but the headmolds originated in The Heart Family (the New Arrival baby) with slighter changes in the heads, with new hairstyles for instance. The first ones had molded hair and could be taken for a boy or girl without their diapers. The 1994 Baby Sitter Skipper nursed three little girls with molded hair in three colors and on top a long rooted ponytail. These were secretly called Melody dressed in yellow, Nikki in pink and Kelly in mint green. You got their names revealed by dipping a bag in water so their named bibs appeared. Skipper is getting more and more popular as a babysitter in Willows - in 1999 you can see her with four tiny toddlers.

In 1999 the Roberts family got even bigger when new baby sister Krissy made her appearance. She is a cute li'l baby with a new head- as well as body-mold.

Midge also gets a new family with her husband Alan. Son Ryan and new born baby, later known as Nikki appears in 2002. In 2003 Midge and Alan also a new baby and Nikki turns 1 year old and celebrates it with her three new Baby Friends. Pediatrician Barbie helps them to the world and as a baby doc she also has a baby in her box. All the Happy Family dolls comes in AA or Cacuasian versions, but for the three separate Baby Friends.

Sears Special Edition Barbie Baby Sits from 1974 has blonde hair. My baby is a bit frizzy but still cute as a button!

The Teacher Barbie came with two kids in all ethnicities, a girl with long hair (same as above) and this new boy with molded hair.

This particular baby was part of a 3-pack Cool Career fashion set marked 1995.
The pink shade on cheeks and chin shows more on the photo than on the baby.

Ac ouple of cute ethnic babies that I had to slip in between the two molds. This is Baby Blue Feather that came along with his big sister American Indian Barbie from the American Heritage Collection.
