The pattern is one piece plus the hood and fleece is nice as you don't need to do any hems. I did on this one though with a thick silverthread to make a nice finish to the coat. She looks like a Lucia-candidate to me - or a li'l Miss Sweden. 

This pattern is easy to alter to make a long coat or a shorter jacket. This one is a midlength coat.
