Christie appeared for the first time in 1969 and she has since been Barbie's only black friend for several decades. Eventually she moved out and Nikki took her place in the ring of BFFs. She is also one of the dolls that has gone through most face changes over the years.

Many collectors, younger than I, consider Christie dolls with this face being the "true Christie", but to me it's just a face she borrowed from Asha, which in reality, is the truth. But it has been used since 1998, until Christie disappeared altogether in 2006-07.

This doll may or may not be Christie. She could just be a no name Fashionistas doll under the Barbie logo. We have seen her named Christie by Mattel, so that is what she is to me, no matter what.

Bill Greening designed the jubilée doll in time for Christie's 50th anniversry. He used one of the latest dolls sculpts to celebrate this glorious jubilar, the Simone sculpt from the LOOKS series.
