Mattel's series of female role models grows every year. Maya Angelou was
among other things, the first AA woman to read a poem on a Presidential
Inaugration in 1993. Her career as a writer and work with the Civil Rights
Movement began long before that, in the 1950's. In 2010 she recieved the
Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is a true inspiration for young girls!
Mattel gave the Maya Angelou doll a new sculpt in her likeness.
