In the early seventies, the baby Barbie came to babysit, changed looks. This
baby had inserted eyes of glass (or hard plastic?), into a chubby face under
a mass of locks in different hair colors, mostly blonde or in a honey shade.
We initially saw this baby in the Mattel side line of Sunshine Family and
Happy Family dolls. The baby has a chubby baby body, molded in one piece,
with closed hands. Body and head are both marked 1973. The Baby-Sits baby
came with different accessories and a lot of colors of the same. They are
not easy to identify - as in deciding from which set they come or if they
are a Barbie Baby-Sits baby or a Sunshine Family baby. But who cares? They
are adorable, no matter their origins. If you find a black baby with rooted
hair and inserted glass eyes, it is baby Hon - or her not named baby brother.
Sunshine baby Sun, I have learned had blonde hair and as she grew into a
toddler, her not named baby brother had red hair.
These dolls sometimes have issues in the form of melted plastic around the
eyes. Some chemical reaction.
