Barbie has come from all over the world, or been given all kind of ethnic
backgrounds through the years, not only black or white. She went Black and
Hispanic at the same time, in 1980 and Asian in 1981 with Oriental Barbie.
The Oriental Barbie was
the only one that was somewhat connected to the Dolls of the World series, in
the beginning going under the name "Internationals". She has since been
native indian, hawaiian, come from a variety of Asian, South American
and European countries, as well as Australian or Arctic regions. She can truly be
anything or anyone. The black Barbie dolls have their own page.
